Tom Roberts

Tom Roberts grew up in the west end of Winnipeg, right near Clifton Studios. The feel of clay, as it transformed under his fingers, became the call of the siren of creation. That love has taken him through a B.F.A.(Hons) at the University of Manitoba, an apprenticeship with Michael Cardew in Cornwall, England, an M.F.A. from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred, and finally, a B.Ed. at the University of Manitoba. He spent time as an artist in residence at the Banff School of Fine Arts and at the Bray in Helena, Montana, redefining and honing his love of working with clay. Tom has taught art for the past 21 years, and now can be found at Dakota Collegiate in Winnipeg when he isn\'t otherwise engaged with his fabulous family or working in the studio.

Recently Tom spent a year living in Australia, where he was on an International Teaching Fellowship, teaching at Beaconhills College, Pakenham, Victoria. He did have the chance to create some work and fired with Robert Barron of Gooseneck Pottery in Kurrumburra, Victoria.
