Spring Show and Sale

Our spring show and sale will be happening Saturday May 12th. Our members will be opening their spaces and displaying work in the gallery.

Doors will open at 11AM. There will be snacks and refreshments available for free and there is no admission to the sale. Raffle tickets will also be for sale.

Come down and see a wide selection of hand made pieces, much of it for sale. Perfect hand made gifts for Mom!

New Studio Member

We would like to Welcome Michele Sarna who has officially moved into Tom's studio space. She is a visual artist working in many different mediums and also teaches at the Winnipeg Art Gallery.

As a side note, Tom Roberts is still renting his gallery spot and therefore will still be here for our open house days, etc. We look forward to hearing how his new space is working out!

The Winter Show and Sale will take place Saturday and Sunday November 26th to 27th from 11AM until 4PM both days.

Studio members will be showing and selling their work. A wide variety of hand made pieces from ceramics to jewelry to paintings and more!

There will be a silent auction draw and free refreshments available.

Large Space for Rent

Our largest rental space will be available January 15th, 2012. It measures 230 square feet for $195.08 per month. Interested artists/craftspeople can contact the Clifton Studio rental's officer at 786-1451 for more information.

New Website. So shiny and exciting.

Our website has been completely re-written. Good by PHP, hello Ruby on Rails. The layout has also been brought up to date and the whole thing is much more elegant.

Notable new things for the public are:
* Improved picture viewing
* More logical layout and information
* Mailing list signup (on the side bar, how about you try it out)
* An RSS feed, if you're into that kind of technology

For members there are many improved features in the back end.

JoAnna Lange has been one of the most active members of our studio for some time now. Sadly for us, but good for her, she has packed up her Winnipeg home and moved out west. We all wish her the best and will miss her very much. She is maintaining membership at the studio for the time being at least, but this winter will likely be her last sale with us.

As a result of her moving, we've had several spaces become available and have been able to fill them from our waiting list. We welcome:

Glaze Workshop

A two day glaze workshop is being held on Saturday February 23rd from 10:00 to 4:00 (with a 1 hour pot luck lunch) and Saturday March 1st from 1:00 to 3:00.

The workshop will teach how to mix a glaze from a recipe, how to use a scale, and how to color a glaze. Materials will be provided and tests will be fired between the two sessions.

The cost is $25 payable to Clifton Studios, and $10 cash to cover materials.

In addition, the following equipment is required:
- Rubber/latex gloves
- Dust mask
- Calculator
- Small brushes
- Food item for pot luck lunch at noon on February 23rd

Space is limited because of gram scales, so call the studio at 774-4869 or email mdz@mts.net to register.

Two Day Glaze Workshop: How to Follow a Glaze Recipe

Clifton Studios is putting on a two day workshop on February 23rd and March 2nd, 2008. Tom Roberts MFA, will teach you how to:
- Read and modify a glaze recipe
- Use a gram scale
- Use colorants
- Mix and sieve glazes
- Make a line-blend for oxides and colorants

The workshop will be held over two consecutive weekends to allow firing of tests. View more details in the Events section.
